Receiving Inquiry

After the customer sends the inquiry, due to the time difference, our product manager will reply to you within 24 hours at the latest, and please kindly advise us of the below custom pallet design requirements:

  • Dimensions (length × width × height)
  • Static capacity, racking capacity, dynamic capacity
  • Usage scenarios (such as cold storage, foreign trade transportation, stacking, etc.)
  • Wood treatment (wood moisture content requirements, export wooden pallets are all heat treated)
  • Surface treatment (such as chamfering, anti-slip strips, anti-collision strips, branding logo, etc.)
  • Packaging and transportation (economical choice: plastic film packaging, sea transportation after heat treatment)

Design And Quotation

Based on the custom requirements, the R&D department will provide a feasibility analysis (mainly using 3D modeling and force analysis), and provide an appropriate adjustment plan based on the actual application situation.

The product manager will discuss the plan with the customer, and after several rounds of discussions, the final rendering of the custom wooden pallet will be determined (SolidWorks/CAD dual-format drawings).

At this time, we will calculate the cost based on the determined design and provide the customer with a formal quotation, after the customer agrees to the quotation, we will start making samples.

Sample Confirmation And Contract Signing

After receiving the sample payment, we will complete the sample production within 7-12 days (including quality inspection time, which mainly includes dimensional accuracy inspection and load 1.5 times the load for 24 hours).

Customer receives the sample and confirms it is correct through quality inspection, we will sign a contract with the customer according to the previous quotation.

The Process of Custom Pallets

When the customer signs the contract and pays the deposit payment, we will start production at once. Now, let’s see the production process of the custom pallets!

1 Procurement of Raw Materials

Contact the wood supplier to purchase raw materials, confirm the relevant certificates for the wood, and check its quality. Then select suitable wood according to the design, such as pine and birch, we usually use pine, and use birch for pallets that require better strength.

2 Cutting And Polishing

Cut the wood according to the design drawings to ensure the precise size of each part. And Polishing the cut wood surface, such as sanding and removing burrs, etc., to improve aesthetics and safety.

3 Assembly

Assemble the cut wood parts according to the design drawings, usually fixed with nails, screws or glue, then check whether each connection is firm and reliable.

4 Reinforcement And Protection

Some custom pallets may need reinforcement, such as adding beams or adding metal brackets. Apply waterproof and anti-corrosion coatings as required to improve the durability and service life of the pallet.

5 Quality Inspection

After completion, the finished pallets are sampled for strength and load testing to ensure that they can bear the expected weight, and then checked the appearance of the pallets to ensure that there are no flaws and defects.

For custom pallet steps 1-5 usually take about 3-6 weeks.

6 Heat treatment or fumigation

For exported wooden pallets, they need to be heat treated or fumigated according to ISPM 15 standards, and after having the certificate, they have to be shipped within 21 days.

7 Packing and waiting for shipment

Wrap the pallets with plastic film, add anti-collision strips, and send the packaged goods to the export port for shipment. At the same time, prepare the customs clearance documents required by the exporting country and the destination country for fast delivery.

The 6-7 steps take up to 6 days, given that we are near the Shanghai Port, it is usually completed in 3 days.

8 Shipping Time

The shipping time is the same as the international ocean freight routes departing from China. The following data is for reference:

Cases of Our Custom Pallets

Case 1: Pallets for Food Industry

The customer is a European food processing firm which produces and packs frozen foods. Because of the special point of its products, the customer requires a pallet which can bear low temperatures and high humidity.

Customized Requirements

The customer requested us to provide the non-standard custom made pallets with the following characteristics:

  • Pallet size: 1600mm x 1450mm
  • Moisture resistance: The pallet must be stable in frozen and humid conditions.
  • Load capacity: 1500kg.
  • Easy to clean: The surface must be easy to clean and disinfect.

Solution

The client had initially intended to use the plastic pallet, but the mold opening charge was expensive due to the unique size, so we devised a pallet of good-quality pine wood for the client and treated it in the following way to render it moisture resistant:

  • Selection of wood: Select good-quality pine wood that is resistant to moisture.
  • Waterproof coating: Applying an environmentally friendly waterproof coating on the pallet surface to form a barrier film that does not allow the penetration of moisture.
  • Heat treatment: Exposing the wood to high temperature to dry, reduce the moisture content and improve the moisture resistance.
  • Sealing treatment: Sealing the pallet joints to prevent moisture penetration.

Finally, a thickened structure is utilized so that its carrying capacity can cope with the requirements, we also made the surface of the pallet smooth to be easily cleaned.

Results

Our client was highly satisfied with our pallet, stating that it has good moisture resistance, nothing went awry when it was being transported and stored, and efficiency improved significantly.

Case 2: Custom Shipping Pallets of Precision Instruments

The second customer is an American factory specialized in the manufacturing of precision instruments, the precision instruments require their products to be anti-shake to ensure accuracy in measurement, thus they have special needs during transportation.

Customized Requirements

The customer would like us to provide them with a non-standard customized pallet in the following requirements:

  • Anti-seismic design: Good anti-seismic capability should be performed by the pallet.
  • Customized size: The dimension of the pallet should be 800mm x 600mm.
  • Anti-slip surface: The pallet surface must have an anti-slip design.

Solution

We designed a wooden pallet of a unique design for the client, using the following treatments:

  • Reinforced structure: Add support strips on the edge and bottom of the pallet to enhance overall stability.
  • Anti-shock pads: Add anti-shock pads on the pallet surface to absorb shock during transportation.
  • Insertion of card slots: Fit the card slots in line with specifications of the customer product carton to maintain product stability.
  • Anti-slip treatment: Render the product non-slipping during transportation through enhancing the roughness of the surface or covering it with anti-slip agents.

The product is safeguarded during its transit with a design of the pallet that holds the instrument well-protected in a manner to avoid causing damage.

Results

Customers reported that the pallet dealt with transport effectively, the level of product damage was considerably reduced, and transport efficiency was also improved.

Case 3: Furniture Industry Special Pallets

The last customer is a Brazilian furniture business that needs pallets to deliver bulky furniture items such as sofas and bed frames.

  • Custom size pallets: Pallets should be of a size that can accommodate oversized furniture with a minimum size of 1500mm x 1200mm.
