Plastic pallet can be divided into nine-foot plastic pallets, 3-runner plastic pallets, cross plastic pallets, and double-sided plastic pallets according to their appearance. They have different bottom shapes to adapt to different working conditions. Here we only mention the classification and do not introduce plastic pallet products by this classification.

Experienced plastic pallet manufacturer will classify plastic pallets into 4 categories according to usage scenarios: rackable plastic pallets, stackable plastic pallets, nestable/shipping plastic pallets, display plastic pallets. The advantage of this classification is that it can help customers quickly understand the product and know which plastic pallet is suitable for them.

Plastic pallet designed for racking storage must consider their stability, load capacity, and convenience for forklifts when placed on large warehouse racking. Since only one layer of pallet goods needs to be stacked, their load capacity can be slightly weaker than stackable pallets.

  1. Wide load range and diverse bottom designs to match different racking;
  2. Structural design requires strong stability to prevent goods from tipping over and causing racking to collapse in rows;

Stackable Plastic Pallets

It is mainly used for the storage of bulk commodities and the raw materials stacking in factories. When storing and stacking bulk commodities and raw materials, to save space, factories often stack materials from one pallet on another pallet. Sometimes there is even a need to stack three layers of pallets (it is not cost-effective to use racking management only for storing the same raw materials or bulk commodities). At this time, the bottom pallet is the stacking pallet, the plastic pallet manufacturer will consider the better load-bearing and compression resistance when designing.

Custom Plastic Pallet

Except for those default specifications in the above table, to meet the needs of some customers for special application pallets, we are also a custom plastic pallets manufacturer, our custom process is:

  1. Receive inquiries: Ask customers for specific requirements and collect the customization information: application scenarios, size(LWH), dynamic capacity, static capacity, materials, two-way or four-way forks, mesh or flat panels, colors, and bottom surface shapes.
  2. Feedback to customers a product feasibility report: According to the customer’s customization requirements, the R&D department will provide a feasibility analysis and give adjustment suggestions based on actual production experience. After negotiating with customers, determine the final customized plastic pallet model (CAD drawing).
  3. Mold setting: If customized adjustments are made under the existing molds of our factory, no new mold is required; if it exceeds the range of sizes that our existing molds can manufacture, it requires a new mold.
  4. The new mold has a high cost(8,000-25,000 US dollars) and consumes time(the mold production time is 20-30 days). If you have any needs about new mold, please consult our product manager for details. Therefore, it is recommended that customers choose the near-standard size, which can save 35%-60% of the overall cost.
  5. Quotation: At this time, we will calculate the cost based on the determined design and provide the customer with a formal quotation, after the customer agrees to the quotation, we will start making samples.
  6. After receiving the sample payment, we will finish the sample production within 7-12 days (including quality inspection time, including dimensional accuracy inspection and 24-hour loading of 1.5 times the load).
  7. If the customer receives the sample and passes the quality inspection to confirm it is correct, we will sign a contract with the customer according to the previous quotation.

The Process of Plastic Pallet Manufacturer

After receiving the advance payment, we will start production. Here you will learn about the entire process and time from the start of production to the customer receiving the goods.

1 Raw Material Preparation

We use HDPE (high-density polyethylene) or PP (polypropylene) for the material, and usually choose HDPE.

2 Injection Molding

Select the correct mold and preheat it, heat the raw materials to a dissolved state, inject the molten plastic into the mold at 80-120MPa, maintain the pressure for 60 seconds, and then cool it in the mold for 300 seconds to ensure the product solidification. If you need to make a plastic pallet with better performance, we need to use blow molding.

(2) Blow Molding

After the raw material is heated to a dissolved state, it is formed into a tubular parison through the mold at the head of the extruder. Then extrude the parison, and the length and thickness of the parison are adjusted by controlling the extrusion speed and the size of the mold to form a hollow tubular parison.

Next, the parison is placed in another blow mold near it, and injecting high-pressure air into the parison through the blow hole in the mold. The parison expands and adheres to the inner wall of the mold to form the desired shape, wait for 300 seconds to ensure that it is solidified before removal.

The blow molding process results in the product being a double-sided structure, which makes some forklifts unusable, limiting its application. Therefore, injection molded pallets are still the most commonly used plastic pallet.

3 Post-Processing

Trim the edges and surfaces to ensure that there are no burrs, and print customer logos or patterns according to their requirements.

4 Quality Inspection

Load capacity test (static load 150% for 24 hours) and drop test (1.2 meters drop, no damage).

Steps 1-4 take about 2-4 weeks, but we are a top Chinese plastic pallet supplier, so we usually have sufficient stock and deliver goods as soon as the order is placed.

5 Heat Treatment or Fumigation

Plastic pallet do not require heat treatment or fumigation for export, which saves both time and cost;

6 Packaging

After cleaning, pack the pallets with plastic film and secure them so that they are not damaged during transportation;

7 Shipping

An experienced plastic pallet manufacturer will prepare the export documents and customs clearance documents for the destination country at this time, and send the goods to the port of shipment to wait for loading;

The 5-7 steps take up to 4 days, given that we are near the Shanghai Port, it is usually completed in 2 days.

8 Shipping Time

The shipping time is the same as the international ocean freight routes departing from China. The following data is for reference:
